Each summer young adults who have a commitment to following Jesus and loving campers serve at Shetek Lutheran Ministries. Serving on a summer ministry team is more than just a job, it is an opportunity to make a difference!
Spend time in creation and community, walking alongside campers in their faith journeys. You just might discover new things about yourself and grow along the way too! Camp is hard work but extremely rewarding. Along with having fun, you will learn valuable life skills like these.

1. Complete an Application
Use the button to submit an application online. You will be redirected to our registration software (Campwise) to “Create a New Account” and after your account is set up, to fill out the application, click on the green “Apply For Position” button. If you have questions, contact Lexie and we’ll help walk you through the process.
2. Submit References
Your references will be sent an email with a link to fill it out online.
3. Interview
We will arrange an in-person or zoom interview with you after we have received your application.
Camp Counselor
Camp Counselor ($400/week)
Returning Camp Counselor ($425/Week)
- The role of a summer camp counselor is both a challenging and rewarding experience.
- As a camp counselor you will be responsible for the safety and well-being of your campers and for making sure that all your campers feel welcomed all while providing them with a fun summer camp experience.
Camp Counselor Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead various camp activities including but not limited to games, Bible study, arts & crafts, group building all of which you will learn during staff training.
- Create a welcoming and engaging environment for all campers and guests.
- Provide encouragement and support to campers.
- Work as a team with your fellow staff members.
- Build relationships with campers and coworkers.
- As a faith based camp you will have the opportunity to share your faith with those around you.
- Be a positive role model for campers.
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills.
We offer three different types of programming at Shetek. Traditional week long and mini camps for youth entering 2nd-9th grade. We have family camp programing that includes working with people of all ages. We work with different churches to provide programming in their congregation for ages K-6th grade. As a Camp Counselor you will have the opportunity to work across all three programs.
Lifeguard (Add to any postion)
Being a Lifeguard adds an addtional $25 a week to your salary.
We offer Lifeguard Certification during our staff training to any staff interersted. Lifeguard is an add on position that can be added to any other role.
Day Camp Director (Support Staff)
- Work alongside other support staff members to uplift and provide guidance to camp counselors.
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills
First time support staff member $450/week
Second year support staff member $475/week
- As the Day Camp Director you will take the lead in organizing and overseeing our Day Camp Programs where we work with congregations to being camp to their community.
- Each week you will work with a team of 2-3 Camp Counselors to organize and run the Day Camp Programs.
Day Camp Director Responsibilities and Duties:
- Be a positive leader and role model for staff and campers.
- Be the team lead for the Day Camp Programs.
- Work collaboratively with Camp Counselors each week.
- Ensure all materials are organized and prepared each week.
- You will be given the opportunity to use your creativity to enhance and improve the Day Camp Programs.
- Work alongside other support staff members to uplift and provide guidance to camp counselors.
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills.
Media Coordinator (Support Staff)
Typically the Media Coordinator Position is paired with another support staff position such as Assistant Program Director or Canteen Manager.
First time support staff member $450/week
Second year support staff member $475/week
- As the Media Coordinator your main responsibility is to capture photos and video of all the different activities that happen throughout the day!
- Camp has a camera that you can use to take these photos/videos!
- This poosition will allow you to get creative in the ways that you capture the moments of camp!
- If you have experience in social media content creation, you may be asked to assist in developing content and posting.
- You will also work alongside other support staff members to uplift and provide guidance to camp counselors.
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills.
Kitchen Assistant
$400/week
As a Kitchen Assistant your primary role is to work alongside the Food Service Director and other Kitchen Assistants for meal prepartation, serving of meals, clean up and other kitchen services. You will have the opportunity to be a part of different camp activities during your time off if you choose.
Kitchen Assistant Responibilites and Duties:
- Food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Including but not limited to baking deserts, chopping vegetables, peparing ingredients, setting up the salad bar.
- At meal times you will help serve food and be a runner (grabbing more trays of food as needed).
- Kitchen cleanup which includes dishes and daily cleaning tasks.
- Follow Food Safety guidelines. During staff training the Food Service Director will train you in on these guidelines.

Assistant Program Director (Support Staff)
First time support staff member $450/week
Second year support staff member $475/week
- The role of Assistant Program Director requires great leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- As a support staff member you will uplift and encourage camp counselors by providing them with support and help when they need it.
Assistant Program Director Responsibilities and Duties:
- Be a positive leader and role model for staff and campers.
- Work with the Program Director for program planning and coordination.
- Facilitate group games and organized camp activities.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration amongst staff.
- Befriend and create a welcoming atmosphere for campers and other guests.
- Work with other support staff members to help lead different training sessions during staff training.
- Work alongside other support staff members to uplift and provide guidance to camp counselors.
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills.
Cross-Generational Director (Support Staff)
Salaries range from $400-$475 per week depending on the position in which you serve. If you are a lifeguard we will add an additional $25 a week to your salary. In addition to your salary, you will have minimal living expenses as room and board is provided. Some colleges also offer grants for Bible Camp Staff. We are happy to work with you for internship opportunities. We also offer a bonus for every friend you recruit to work at camp all summer.
Canteen Manager (Support Staff)
Typically the Canteen Manager Position is paired with another support staff position such as Media Coordinator, Chaplain, Assistant Program Director.
First time support staff member $450/week
Second year support staff member $475/week
As the Canteen Manager your main responsibility is to run the camp store! This includes:
- Collaborating with the Program Director on what merch to have in the camp store.
- Getting creative and help design new items.
- Making sure items are being restocked/reordered as needed.
- Collaborating with the Program Director and Food Service Director to order snacks and candy for the store.
- Working in the camp store when it is open to guests.
- Training other staff members on how to use the camp store computer system (this is something you will learn during training).
- Clean and organize store weekly.
Maintenance Assistant
$400/week
As a Maintenance Assistant you will work with the Property Mangers to ensure the upkeep of the camp grounds and buildings.
Maintenance Assistant Responsibilites and Duties:
- Lawn Care
- Minor Repairs
- Building Upkeep
- Cleaning
- Inspect facilities and fixed things as needed
- Event Set Up
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills.
As the summer progresses other responsibilities will arise when different things to maintenance.
Health Care Manager (Support Staff)
First time support staff member $450/week
Second year support staff member $475/week
- This is a great position for you if you are looking at or are going into the medical field whether it be a doctor, PT, OT, nurse, etc.
- This position will give you hands on experience and will provide you with First Aid and CPR certification.
Health Care Manager Responsibilities and Duties:
- Organize and distribute medication.
- Assist campers and staff with minor medical issues.
- Ensure first aid kits are stocked and replenished as needed.
- Ensure health logs are filled out when medication is distributed.
- As a support staff member when time allows you will work with the other support staff members to lead games and activities.
- Work with other support staff members on how to best support other staff members.
- Befriend and welcome all campers and guests.
- Work alongside other support staff members to uplift and provide guidance to camp counselors.
- Continue to build and develop your professional and career driven skills.
Waterfront Director (Support Staff)
Typically the Waterfront Director Position is paired with another support staff position such as Assistant Program Director or Chaplain.
First time support staff member $450/week
Second year support staff member $475/week
- Oversee and maintain a safe waterfront environment.
- Provide waterfront orientation for all summer staff and campers.
- Conduct the swim check each week with campers.
- Lifeguard during open time and during other times cabin groups may be swimming.
- Organize and maintain the lifeguard and boating sheds.
- Work alongside 2-3 other lifeguards whenever there are campers swimming.
